Schoolfinances.com, Inc. was founded by Dr. James Sheehan after his retirement as Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services in the Rochester, Minnesota school district. During his years of active employment, it became apparent to Dr. Sheehan that considerable information was being collected regarding school district operations, but that this information was not in a format to be used by school managers. This need propelled him to develop systems and reports to present the data in a clear and meaningful way.

Ann Thomas joined the firm in 1999 and was named President in January of 2008. She has served in a variety of capacities in public and higher education including Director of Media Support Services in the Rochester Public Schools, Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of the Washington State Board of Education, and Executive Director of the Centralia College Foundation (Washington state). Mrs. Thomas has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts degree in Management.

The Management Reports and the Planning Systems developed by Dr. Sheehan have been endorsed by the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) for use by Minnesota school districts. SchoolFinances.com is a business partner of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA).
